About

Our Story

By providing opportunities for education and celebration, the arts become a bridge toward cultural understanding and community engagement. This enriches lives with music, movement, and cultural expression by building a space for people to celebrate, learn, and share in the joy of dance.

For years, Tumbao has operated as a donation-based initiative, offering accessible dance classes that welcomes dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Tumbao Collective began in 2021 at Logan Street Market as a grassroots effort to bring people together through free dance lessons. What started as a place for anyone to connect through the rhythm of Latin music quickly became a thriving community centered around diverse Latin American and Hispanic cultures.

In 2024, Tumbao Collective became a nonprofit organization, solidifying our mission to make dance, music, and cultural experiences accessible to all. Today, we are dedicated to uniting and empowering communities by building inclusive spaces for learning through creating.

We hope for people to celebrate and engage with Latin American and Hispanic heritage. We plan to continue to grow  by forging partnerships to expand our projects, and creating opportunities that strengthens and unites our community through the arts.
